I really like my pinboard. I prefer a sedimental approach to pinboards. Layer after layer I put stuff on the pinboard. Call for papers, poster, greeting cards, pictures, invitations, offical circulations. I like the idea of pre-archiving, an attic of daily scientific practice, a cementary of past scientific events. Some day somebody will take away layer after layer, and perhaps …
… a big finding is waiting. In my universities we have a lot of message boards which use the same approach. Student put stuff there to let other know about appartments to rent, cultural events, learning circles, selling used books, etc. From time to time the are cleaned by somebody. I always feel sad facing the empty boards.
